In a world where there are a plethora of recordings featuring one composer (perhaps there has to be a rethinking of mixing ancient and modern once more on one album), this one stands out for creating an atmospheric experience, spotlighting a versatile and talented composer, and one where the musicians transcend and produce a radiance of love.
Review, Andrew Palmer; Chimeo Arts, Cumbria Times, Yorkshire Times
The music of Joanna Gill is one of intense spiritual joy, of heart-warming harmonies and of lively rhythmical spirit that is both deeply personal (almost autobiographical) and ‘all embracing’ – music from one soul to all others. Her work is unashamedly romantic, unpretentious and, like an open hand, a gift to all who perform or hear it.
The music on this album is joyous, life-affirming, soulful, energetic, multi-faceted and spiritually uplifting. And, what’s more, each track brings with it its own glimpse into the fascinating world of Gill’s faith and life. Perhaps ‘Safe in the arms of He’ is the most personal piece on this recording written, as it was, after the death of her nephew. However, even in the darkness of grief, Gill shows us the hope of everlasting life. Her work always shines light on the positives and on ‘hope’.

"A very distinguished Composer, Arranger and Conductor"
Choral Conductor, London Symphony Chorus - Simon Halsey
"Joanna is amazing to work with! I approached her with a project, but didn't know exactly what I wanted the music to look like. Joanna was professional and relaxed and sent a few creative suggestions over which got my ideas flowing and gave me more confidence. From there we developed a really strong musical idea and I am so happy with the end result. I'd definitely work with Joanna again, and recommend her to anyone needing an experienced, professional musician who delivers a high-quality end product on time."
Film Director - Hatty Haines
'Joanna has that natural ability to capture a range of moods and styles in one piece: from grandioso and majestic brass fanfares to beautifully executed woodwind runs, and from a natural Celtic flair for fiddling violin passages to Zimmeresque filmic drumming and percussion. Not only is Joanna an outstanding composer, orchestrator and arranger – at home with choral and symphonic writing – she is also a real delight to work with. You have a real sense that Joanna is not just invested in the notes on the page, but the players, singers and audience for whom she is penning each inspired note for.'
Conductor/Music Director - Michael Thomas Andrews
Joanna was recommended to me, and created an orchestral reduction of my symphony 'When Music Sounds'. She also edited the score and worked on rehearsal piano parts for my new concerto Night Seasons, and leant her copyist skills to both works, creating the orchestra and choir parts. Throughout the process Joanna was very flexible, adept at turning things round quickly at short notice, had an eye for detail, responded quickly to feedback, and was consistently a delight to work with, with a positive can-do mentality. I would absolutely recommend her!

"Working with Joanna is such a treat. I send her my song and an idea of what I want orchestrated and it's like she is literally in my head and just envisages exactly what I wanted. It's a testament to her talent and gift. She is my go to person for sure. Looking forward to working on many more projects."
